Alyssa & Stephen: Sneak Peek

This past Saturday I had the honor of capturing engagement photos for Alyssa and Stephen at Zilker Botanical Garden! I met Alyssa last semester when I took her senior photos to celebrate her graduation from Texas Nursing. She told me back then that she was dating a petroleum engineer working in Midland, but I had no idea they were about to get engaged soon. It was a pleasure to finally meet her fiancé and learn a little bit about their love story.

They've been together for 8 years now, going from taking prom pictures together to engagement photos now, and making long distance work while Stephen attended The University of Houston and Alyssa committed to studying at The University of Texas in Austin. He first caught her eye back in middle school, not just for her obvious beauty, but also because of her intellect. If you ask me though, these two make quite the power couple.

Stephen talked about how Alyssa used to be a dancer -- which I should've guessed by the way she effortlessly twirled for photos. She's planning to choreograph their first dance for their wedding and I'm sure it's going to be awesome. She talked about how her dream wedding would be in a forest, so I wanted to create an ethereal look for these photos to capture some of the magic of a fairytale love story.

Stephen went ring shopping with his brother-in-law and Alyssa's mom. The first time, he didn't leave the store with a diamond, but he learned a lot about the cut and clarity of stones, and he got an idea of what Alyssa would like. Something traditional, with a delicate, feminine simplicity. The second time he went ring shopping, he came out of it with the perfect ring fit for a princess.

So here are some of my favorite photos I've edited so far from the first half of our session (formalwear). I can't wait to finish them and finally share the whole gallery with this couple!
